From hiding to competing
There was a time when Kai spent much of his time hiding in his room. Finding something he connected with wasn't always easy.
Chess gave Kai something he could understand. A board. A set of rules. A challenge. And eventually, a community.
The outside world used to feel too overwhelming for Kai, keeping him hidden in his room. Today, he steps onto the national stage to compete alongside thousands of players.
Kai's story is one of the reasons we believe Infinite Chess belongs in the Rio Grande Valley. We want more children to have the opportunity to discover something that gives them a reason to participate, connect, and challenge themselves.
